How the rental works
📋 Booking & License Procedure:
- Walk-in to our shop at SA Jensens Vej, or call: 42 72 76 98
- Show VDWS/IKO license (Level 3+ with supervision, Level 5+ without)
- Without a license: Book a supervision test with us
- Choose kite size based on the day's wind and your weight - we'll help!
- Safety briefing before first rental
💳 Deposit:
- Not required for short rentals (2-3 hours)
- You sign that you are fully liable for the gear
- For longer rentals (1 day+) we take ID as a deposit.
🛡️ Insurance – IMPORTANT:
Water sports insurance is highly recommended . Duotone kites cost 15,000-25,000 DKK to replace! Ask about insurance when booking.
⚠️ Liability & Compensation:
You are 100% responsible for the gear during rental. Normal wear and tear OK, but serious damage must be replaced. Duotone gear is premium and expensive!

🌊 Ebeltoft Bay Features:
- Protected bay with flat water – perfect for freestyle and learning
- Large launching area with space for several kiters
- Lawn at the surf center for setup and rigging
- Designated kite zone – safe distance from other water sports
💨 Wind conditions:
- West wind is perfect (clean wind, minimal turbulence)
- Southwest and northwest also work well
- Thermal winds in summer provide consistent conditions
- Minimum 12-14 knots recommended for kitesurfing
⚠️ Safety & Ethics:
- Keep a minimum distance of 50m from swimming areas
- Respect others on the water (windsurfers, SUP, bathers)
- Launch and land only in designated kite area
- Right-of-way rules always apply
- Downwind kites have priority

Why only Premium Duotone gear?
We only invest in the best gear for your safety and experience. Duotone is the world's leading kiteboard brand - used by professionals all over the world. Our kites cost 15,000-25,000 kr each. These are not cheap beginner kites, this is professional performance gear!
What license do I need to rent?
Ideal: VDWS Level 5 or IKO Level 3 (safe upwind navigation, can kite independently).
Minimum: VDWS Level 3 with supervision (instructor close by while you kit).
Without a license? Book a supervision test where we assess your level. If you can kite safely, we will approve the rental.
Why? Safety for yourself and others. Kiters who lose altitude are dangerous in spots with other people.
Why is FlexCard cheaper?
FlexCard gives you 10 hours for the price of about 7-8 hours. It's our way of rewarding loyal customers and locals who kit regularly. You save 650 kr compared to paying per 2-hour session. Perfect for training throughout the season!
What kite size should I choose?
It depends on wind strength and your weight:
- 12-18 knots (light wind): 12-14 m² for medium/heavy rider, 11-12 m² for light rider
- 18-25 knots (medium wind): 9-11 m² for most
- 25-32 knots (strong wind): 7-9 m² for all
- 32+ knots: 7m for experienced only

Can I rent without complete setup?
Yes! You can rent:
- Kite Only: If you have your own board and harness (350-1,500 kr)
- Board Only: If you have your own kite (280-1,200 kr + harness included)
Perfect if you travel with some of your own Duotone gear.
Are harness and wetsuit included?
Yes, with Complete Setup . You can choose between seat harness (better back support) or waist harness (more freedom). Wetsuit in all sizes included. With Board Only, harness is also included.
What if I damage the kite?
Normal wear and tear is OK. But serious damage must be replaced:
- Duotone kite: 15,000-25,000 kr depending on model
- Control bar: 3,000-5,000 kr
- Board: 5,000-8,000 kr
Insurance is HIGHLY recommended! Ask about water sports insurance when booking. Kite gear is extremely expensive to replace.
Do I need to book in advance?
Walk-in works most days, but in high season (July-August) and on days with perfect wind, we recommend calling first on 42 72 76 98. Specific kite sizes (9m, 12m) may be in demand on good wind days.
Is Ebeltoft Bay good for kitesurfing?
Yes! Ebeltoft Bay has:
- Protected flat water – perfect for freestyle and progression
- Large launching area with plenty of space
- Designated kite zone ensures safety
- West wind provides clean wind without turbulence
Good spot for both learning and advanced kitesurfing. Remember to respect others on the water!
What is 'supervision'?
Supervised kitesurfing is for Level 3-4 kitesurfers who are still learning. An instructor is close by while you kite - providing safety, feedback and help if needed.
Perfect if you have basic skills but still lose height or are unsure. Book supervision sessions through our course offer – not through standard rental.
